Overlabelling services developed within NHS Lothian to meet the needs of individual sites in the provision of a One Stop service. Sites where the One Stop service was fully implemented proceeded to develop their own systems for providing overlabelled medicines required for those wards and departments.  Historically the service has grown without having central control or with any specific strategic direction. There is a requirement for the standardisation and establishment of an efficient system for optimal delivery, increased productivity and sustainability of the One Stop system in NHS Lothian.
