Output
By the end of this course participants should be able to;
1. Analyse a specific part of a system to identify and prioritse areas for improvement.
2. Design an improvement project for a focussed piece of work.
3. Measure the effect of the improvement work.
4. Communicate the improvement work to create engagement.
5. Present the improvement work as an electronic poster.
Session 1
Aim: To give participants a systems-based approach to understanding healthcare and using quality improvement.
By the end of day 1, participants should be able to;
1. Create a flow chart to describe a specific process
2. Describe how the lens of Profound Knowledge can help us better understand a process
3. Propose an improvement project using a project charter
4. Describe how the model for improvement is central to the project
5. Construct a focused aim statement
Session 2
Aim: To equip the participants with an understanding of measurement for improvement
By the end of day 2, participants should be able to;
1. Differentiate between measurement for performance, research and improvement
2. Describe outcome, process and balancing measures for their specific project
3. Construct a driver-diagram
4. Create a run-chart using MS Excelbased tool
Session 3
Aim: To equip participants with the skills and knowledge to successfully engage, generate ideas and run tests of change.
1. Assemble, enthuse and empower a team.
2. Generate and prioritise changes to be tested.
3. Measure the effect of the improvement work.
4. Communicate the benefit of the improvement work.
5. Propose how the improvements will be sustained.
