Quality Improvement in Primary Care Prescribing Event - 28th March 2019
This recent, really successful event, was the first of its kind aiming to bring primary care pharmacists and other primary care team members together to "share examples of primary care prescribing quality improvement work taking place across Lothian, and to highlight practical tips, tools and methodology for successfully carrying out prescribing and non-prescribing quality improvement projects."
Seventy GPs, primary care pharmacists and other members of the primary care team attended. The day was a mix of presentations, panel discussions and interviews. Presentations can be downloaded from here. Our thanks to Prof Angela Timoney, Director of Pharmacy and Dr Lisa Carter, GP Clinical Lead for chairing the day.
You can access a Summary Report from the day, here.
Presentations from the day:
Jackie Stevenson, Prescribing Support Dietician: Dietetics (Oral Nutritional Supplements) project

Feedback from the day:
“It was great to be in a room with people enthused by & enjoying general practice. I liked meeting other GPs & pharmacists . It felt like changes could be implemented by non experts.”
“Sessions were short, peer-based and practical.”
“Was really inspiring to see other people's work and to hear from the pharmacists.”
I liked the variety of health care professionals- GPs, pharmacists, dietitians and practice managers and the varied methods of informing us of projects- presentation, interviews and panel discussions.”
